Amidst of a global pandemic,The black lives matter movment surged to the forfront of history, Ignited by the tragic killing of George Floyd. My family and I joined the protest in NYC, In this photograph, my cousin Sergio Mencia stands strong, facing the approching police. He painted on his clothes "Black and Proud", Embodying both defiance and pride an act of unity and strength in the face of injustice.
